Common sense of LNG storage tank

By Manager
Date: Dec 04, 2019
LNG cryogenic storage tanks are important storage containers for LNG filling stations, and are an essential part of filling stations. Generally it should be set in the cofferdam, and the volume of a single tank is generally 30 cubic meters or 60 cubic meters. The inner container of LNG cryogenic tank is made of high-quality austenitic stainless steel 0Cr18Ni9 plate or imported 304 plate; the outer container is made of high-quality Q345R container plate.

Cryogenic liquid LNG tanks generally include vertical tanks and horizontal tanks. The vertical tank has a small footprint and is easy to use. Due to the difference in gravity, the power of the submersible pump is reduced, which saves electricity. However, vertical tanks generally exceed 10 meters, which will cause fear to surrounding residents, so it is not appropriate to set up in urban areas. Vertical tanks; horizontal tanks are currently the most commonly used form. The disadvantage is that the floor space is large. The storage tanks have safety distance requirements from surrounding buildings and facilities inside and outside the station. According to GB50156, the design difficulty is increased accordingly.

Common insulation forms of LNG cryogenic tanks include high vacuum multilayer winding insulation and pearlite powder insulation. The latter is more common in practical applications due to its lower cost.

The safety protection system of the LNG storage tank is composed of storage tank accessories, including: a pressure gauge, a liquid level gauge, a fully-equipped closed safety valve at the root, an overflow port, a bursting disc, and a vacuum valve. LNG storage tank has two methods: top liquid inlet and bottom liquid inlet. The top liquid inlet can use cold liquid to liquefy the BOG gas in the storage tank. Both methods can be used. This should be selected according to the site conditions during the liquid discharge process.

General technical agreement requires that the design pressure of the LNG storage tank is 1.3mpa, the design temperature is -196 ° C, and the daily evaporation rate is less than or equal to 0.20%. The actual working pressure of the storage tank is generally less than 1.0mpa, and the working temperature is generally determined by the quality of the liquid, which is about -100 °.
