Method for extending service life of cryogenic storage tank
Date: Mar 25, 2020
Cryogenic storage tank equipment, also called cryogenic pressure vessel, is a container that can be used to store and transport liquefied natural gas, liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, and liquid argon. Such equipment is generally of double-layer structure. This is to enable better and long-term storage of liquefied gas, and effective thermal insulation measures must be adopted. Because special liquids are stored and transported, there is a high demand for the quality of cryogenic storage tank equipment. At the same time, we still have a lot to learn if we want to use the device effectively for a long time.
The inner cylinder of this kind of equipment is also called an inner tank. It mainly stores liquefied gas. A thermal insulation layer is formed between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder to reduce the heat introduced into the inner cylinder by conduction, convection and radiation. Before using a cryogenic liquid storage tank, we need to inject a small amount of liquid nitrogen into it to pre-cool it. When the temperature in the tank reaches the liquid nitrogen temperature, fill it with liquid nitrogen until the tank is full. When using the cryogenic tank, pay attention to check the neck plug and the small groove of the neck plug at any time, remove the icing on the neck plug in time, and do not place plastic cloth and other materials on the neck plug to increase the blocking property and ensure the function of the cryogenic liquid nitrogen storage tank. And do it lightly to prevent collision and squeeze, do not drag on the ground when moving, you must lift it. Always store in a dry, well-ventilated room to prevent moisture.
In order to extend the service life of cryogenic storage tanks, we also need to take good measures to prevent internal rust of the equipment. Since the cooling water mostly contains calcium, magnesium ions and acid carbonates. When cooling water flows over the metal surface, carbonates are formed. Oxygen dissolved in cooling water can also cause metal corrosion and rust, and the effect of heat exchange will be reduced due to the generation of rust.
