Dewar Development History
Date: May 26, 2020
It was already known in ancient Rome that double-layer containers can keep warm. In the ruins of Pompeii, a double-layer container was dug.
The modern Dewar flask was invented by Scottish physicist and chemist Sir James Dewar. In 1892, Dewar instructed Berg to blow a special glass bottle. This is a double-layer glass container, both walls of glass bile are covered with silver, and then the air between the two walls is evacuated to form a vacuum. The silver on the two layers of gallbladder wall can prevent radiation and heat dissipation, and vacuum can prevent convection and conduction heat dissipation, so the temperature of the liquid in the bottle is not easy to change. Later, Berg made a shell with nickel to protect the fragile glass jar. At first, this Dewar was only used in laboratories, hospitals and expeditions, and it was later used on picnics or trains.
On January 20, 1893, Dewar announced that he had invented a special cryostat-later called Dewar tank. In 1898 he used the Dewar to liquefy hydrogen, reaching 20.4K. The solidification of hydrogen was achieved again the following year, and the steam reached 12K by extracting the vapor on the surface of the solid hydrogen. The container for cryogenic liquefied gas invented by Dewar is a double-layer silver-plated glass container with a vacuum in the middle. This kind of container was later transformed into a daily necessities known as adults-thermos. In 1925, popular cheap plastic thermos began to be sold. At the same time, similar vacuum insulated containers are needed for the shipment and storage of liquid gases in the laboratory. Dewar invented the metal Dewar in 1906 to store liquid oxygen. A metal container with a capacity of 110,000 liters designed for railway transportation has a liquid oxygen evaporation rate of approximately 0.1% per day and liquid hydrogen evaporation rate of approximately 0.8% per day.
Established in 1998, Jianshen Metal Meterials Co., Ltd. is a comprehensive modern high-end steel container manufacturer integrating R & D, manufacturing, sales and service. With superb craftsmanship, strict and high-quality products, it has won more and more The more customers trust, and attract many agents.
