Maximum filling capacity of LNG storage tank

A certain space must be reserved for the LNG cryogenic storage tank of cryogenic liquefied gas to be used as the medium for thermal expansion, and the tank shall not be filled. The quantity of cryogenic liquid is related to the medium characteristics and the designed working pressure. The maximum filling quantity of LNG storage tank is closely related to the safe storage.
Considering that the volume of the heated liquid will expand, which may cause the liquid level to be too high, and the liquid level is too high to cause LNG spillage, therefore, a certain space must be reserved. How much space should be reserved should be determined according to the set pressure of the safety drain valve of the pressure tank and the specific situation of LNG during filling.
If the maximum allowable working pressure of LNG storage tank is 0.48mpa and the filling pressure is 0.14MPa, the maximum filling volume tested by LNG storage tank manufacturer is 94.3% of the effective volume of the tank.
The amount of LNG filling is mainly controlled by the liquid level in LNG cryogenic tank. The liquid level indicator set in LNG tank is the "eye" to observe the liquid level inside the tank, which is very important to the safety of the tank. LNG storage tank shall be equipped with two sets of independent liquid level measuring devices. The influence of density change on liquid level should be considered when selecting measuring device. The replacement of the level gauge shall be carried out without affecting the normal operation of the tank, so as to ensure that the level in the tank can be detected at any time.
In addition to the level measuring device, the tank shall also be equipped with a high level alarm, so that the operator has sufficient time to stop filling, so as not to make the level exceed the allowable maximum level. The alarm shall be installed where the operator can hear it.
LNG storage tank manufacturers specially remind that for tanks with relatively small capacity (less than 265m3), it is allowed to equip a liquid level test valve to replace the high liquid level alarm, which is controlled manually. When the liquid level reaches the liquid level test valve, the feed is cut off manually.
