Key points for safe use of LNG cryogenic storage tanks

For the safe use of the tank, the gas hazard characteristics, low temperature protection effect, surrounding environmental conditions, pressure vessel characteristics, etc. should be fully considered, and corresponding technical management measures should be taken to ensure safe operation.
1) LNG cryogenic storage tank operators should have a detailed understanding of the structural characteristics of the equipment and its valve system, familiar with the dangerous characteristics of cryogenic liquids, strictly control the surrounding environment, and operate according to the safe operation procedures of cryogenic liquid storage tanks. The operator must pass the training and examination of the quality and technical supervision department at the municipal level and above, and hold the qualification certificate for pressure vessel operation before they can work on the job. Before the operation, the operator should do the labor safety protection measures as required.
2) For the use of LNG cryogenic storage tanks, the “Safety Rules for the Use of Cryogenic Liquid Storage and Transportation Equipment” (JB6898-1997) should be strictly implemented to strengthen daily safety management. When storing cryogenic liquid, the filling rate shall not exceed 0.95. Excessive filling is strictly prohibited. Before the cryogenic liquid storage tank is put into use, it should ensure that the container is in good condition. All kinds of accessories (including valves, instruments, safety devices) are complete, effective, sensitive and reliable. The pipeline materials are properly selected, and the system is dry and free of oil.
3) During the normal use of LNG cryogenic storage tanks, a special person shall be responsible for the patrol inspection. Check that the pressure of the inner container should not exceed the maximum working pressure of the storage tank. If overpressure, pressure relief measures should be taken. Check the status and leakage status of each valve, and find that the status is different or there are leaks. Measures should be taken in time to properly correct the abnormality.
4) Regularly check the vacuum degree in the jacket of LNG cryogenic storage tank. If the vacuum degree deteriorates, the vacuum pumping measures should be taken (the vacuum pumping tank should be implemented by the professional unit or the original manufacturing unit).
5) LNG cryogenic storage tanks are special equipment for national compulsory safety inspection. They are listed in the third type of pressure vessels and should be regularly inspected according to relevant national technical specifications. The safety accessories of the storage tank should also be inspected regularly. The general pressure gauge, liquid level gauge, safety valve and rupture disc device are at least verified or replaced once a year. If LNG low temperature storage tank equipment and accessories are found to have various faults, the cause should be identified at any time, correct analysis and judgment should be made, and reasonable solutions should be taken to ensure its continuous normal operation and safe use.
