Classification and welding of LPG tank and LNG tank
Date: Feb 06, 2020
LNG tanks are all cryogenic storage tanks, which are usually divided into two types:
(1) High pressure tank: the inner layer is made of stainless steel, the outer layer is made of carbon steel, and the middle is vacuumized. The maximum capacity of single tank is 150m3, which is basically adopted by small LNG gasification stations at home and abroad.
(2) Atmospheric pressure tank: similar to LPG atmospheric pressure tank, generally large tank, double-layer mechanism, filled with heat insulation materials in the middle, internal and external tanks are installed and manufactured on site, with long production cycle. The inner layer is made of 9Ni steel. The volume of normal temperature tank is generally more than 50000m3. The temperature in the tank shall be reduced to below - 160 ℃. Submerged arc welding is adopted for circumferential weld and horizontal weld, and manual welding is adopted for most other welds.
LPG tank classification
(1) The pressure of normal temperature and high pressure storage tank is high, and the form of storage tank is generally spherical. The volume of storage tank shall not exceed 10000m3 generally. (2) Low temperature and atmospheric pressure storage tank is in the form of dome roof tank. The tank volume is not too limited, but generally not more than 100000m3. The low-temperature storage tank is generally designed as double-layer, the inner layer is made of low-temperature steel, the outer layer is made of ordinary carbon steel, and the heat insulation material is added in the middle. It has large capacity and low shipping cost.
LPG liquefaction temperature is generally - 40 ℃, mainly propane and butane. The liquefaction temperature of LNG is generally - 162 ℃, mainly methane.
Welding of LNG storage tank
The small tank is usually made of 304 stainless steel, and the welding material is mainly 308L manual welding rod. Large tanks are made of 9Ni steel, generally submerged arc welding is used at horizontal and transverse welding positions to improve efficiency, and manual welding is used at other positions.
Welding of LPG storage tank
Gas welding methods include manual arc welding, submerged arc welding, tungsten argon arc welding and gas metal arc welding. The longitudinal weld of the storage tank adopts manual welding, and the circumferential weld basically adopts submerged arc welding. These two welding methods are mainly used.
