LPG is a mixture of propane and butane, usually accompanied by small amounts of propylene and butene. Ethanethiol, a strong odorant, is added to LPG so that LPG leaks can be easily detected. Liquefied petroleum gas is produced when crude oil is refined, or a gas that evaporates from the extraction of oil or natural gas.LPG will liquefy at room temperature, 6 atmospheres, so it can be filled into pressure cylinders. Usually LPG is only filled to 90% of capacity, which leaves room for the gas to expand as the cylinder heats up.
