When the pressure relief device fails, it will also cause the explosion of the storage tank. Generally, the following situations will occur:
- Adjusting devices such as breathing valves are not sensitive enough;
- Defects of the safety valve: the take-off pressure is set too high; the set pressure is exceeded but it does not take off (manufacturing quality problems, no regular calibration);
- Defects of the bursting disc: the take-off pressure is set too high (mismatched model selection); no regular maintenance/replacement;
- Failure of other on-site instruments;
- Ancillary equipment, accessories and related protection devices are not selected according to the design of the pressure element or the design is unreasonable.
