Basic principles and construction of LNG storage tanks
LNG storage tanks are key facilities for storing liquefied natural gas. Based on their unique insulation design and material application, LNG storage tanks can effectively store cryogenic liquids at minus 162 degrees Celsius. These tanks usually use multiple layers of insulation materials, such as polyurethane foam and aluminum foil, to minimize gas evaporation. Internal materials such as 9% nickel steel can withstand low temperatures while maintaining structural stability. In terms of design, storage tanks are divided into small-volume vacuum insulated containers and large storage tanks, the latter of which usually adopt a vertical structure with multiple insulation layers inside.
