At present, only a few companies in the world produce LNG cryogenic pumps. Chinese LNG production is just in its infancy. Domestic LNG liquefaction plants and LNG receiving stations, gasification stations and liquefied natural gas vehicle (LNGV) filling stations mainly use products from Western countries, which are expensive and have a long supply cycle. In line with the country’s policy of vigorously developing the LNG industry and ensuring national energy security, it is imperative to carry out the localization research and development of LNG delivery pumps.

Domestic and foreign status and development trends

As early as 1910, the United States began industrial-scale natural gas liquefaction research. In 1917, the United States began to produce liquefied natural gas. Subsequently, developed countries such as Britain, France, and Japan began to trade in LNG. The United States’ research on cryogenic pump technology was nearly a hundred years earlier than China.

The main international cryogenic pump manufacturers are: EBARA (made in the United States), NIKKISO (made in the United States), and JC-CARTER (acquired by NIKKISO). Take the LNG tank pump as an example. As a special pump equipment that meets the process requirements, there is no unified standard in the world. The structure and technology of each manufacturer are different, and each has its own strengths. Its product structure and process are also constantly optimized and upgraded with the feedback of engineering applications.
