Characteristics of LNG cryogenic storage tank:
(1) Low temperature resistance:
The boiling point of liquefied natural gas at atmospheric pressure is -162℃.
(2) High safety requirements:
Due to the storage of cryogenic liquid in the tank, once there is an accident in the LNG storage tank, the refrigerated liquid will volatilize in large quantities, and the amount of gasification is about 625 times that of the original refrigerated state, forming an explosive mixture in the atmosphere. Therefore, the storage tank is required to adopt the double-walled structure, and the sealing concept is used. When the first layer tank is leaked, the second layer tank can realize the complete sealing of the leaking liquid and evaporation gas to ensure the safety of storage.
(3) Special materials:
The inner tank of the LNG low temperature storage tank shall be low temperature resistant and shall be made of 0Gr18Ni9(austenitic stainless steel) and 16MnR (ordinary low carbon alloy steel) steel plate.
(4)LNG low temperature storage tank insulation measures are strict:
Since the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the tank can reach up to 200℃, the LNG storage tank should have good cold-retaining performance to keep the temperature inside the tank at -160℃. The inner tank and the outer tank should be filled with high-performance cold-retaining materials. Tank bottom retaining material should have sufficient bearing capacity.
(5) Good seismic performance:
The general earthquake-proof requirement of buildings is to crack and not fall under the specified earthquake load. In order to ensure the safety of LNG storage tank under unexpected load, the storage tank must have good seismic performance. Ensure that the tank is not damaged at the given seismic intensity.
(6) Strict construction requirements:
Tank welds must be tested 100% magnetic particle (MT) and 100% vacuum gas tightness (VBT). To strictly select cold retaining materials, construction should follow the prescribed procedures.
