The LNG low temperature atmospheric storage tank has an operating pressure of 1.2 Pa and an operating temperature of -162°C. It is a flat bottomed double walled cylindrical shape. The tank is made up of two layers, inside and outside, with an insulated structure between the two layers to keep the tank cold. The inner tank is used to store the LNG, while the outer shell protects and keeps it cold. In order to reduce the heat transfer from the outside to the inside of the tank, the inner and outer tanks are designed to be separate and independent. The inner tank has to be strong and stable enough to withstand the external pressure caused by the insulation material and the internal pressure generated by the internal gas.
