When the carburettor is in operation, when the piston moves down and the inlet valve opens, air from the air filter enters through the inlet and flows into the carburettor through the air damper. The air flows through the throat and forms a negative pressure due to the sudden increase in flow velocity, the petrol is then ejected from the injection pipe under the effect of differential pressure and blown away by the high speed air into numerous tiny oil droplets. The amount of petrol injected from the injection pipe is determined by the diameter of the volume hole, and the amount of combustible mixture entering the cylinder is controlled by the throttle valve (commonly known as the “throttle”).
